Is a Research Fellow at the Chair of Hybrid Nanophotonics in the Faculty of Physics at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU). His research explores light–matter interaction in low-dimensional nanomaterials, focusing on two-dimensional semiconduc-tors, metasurfaces, and van der Waals heterostructures for quantum photonics. He earned his PhD in Physics at the University of Sheffield, investigating excitonic physics and single-photon emission in 2D materials. After postdoctoral work with Prof. Stefan A. Maier, he joined Prof. Andreas Tittl’s group at LMU, where he holds an Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship. Dr. Sortino’s contributions span ultrafast spectroscopy, strong light–matter coupling, and hybrid metasurfaces.
